Devikulam Hill Station

Nestled in the Idduki district, Devikulam is one among the major hill station in gods own country . It is situated at an elevation of 1800 meters above the sea level and is a worth visiting tourist destination. Devikulam is at a distance of 16 kilometers away from well known destination Munnar. It is highly known for its mineral water springs and stunning landscapes.
The word Devikulam, Devi means “Sita Devi” and kulam means “Pond”. Devikulam Lake a major tourist attraction of Devikulam is also known as Sita Devi Lake. 

According to the legends, it is believed that in Ramayana epic the goddess Sita Devi had taken a bath in Devikulam Lake so, called Sita Devi Lake. Tourist attractions Eravikulam National Park:
This reserve was set for the protection of Nilgiri Thar in the year 1978 and is a popular tourist attraction of Devikulam tourism. According to the early historical evidences it is true that the region was owned by Eravikulam and Rajamalai. Later it became a sanctuary and the visiting time is from 7 am to 6 pm.

Chinnar wildlife sanctuary:
The sanctuary is one of the regular tourist spot in Devikulam. It was established in the year 1984 for the protection of giant grizzled squirrel, monkeys, peacocks, Sambars and many other animals. It is a complete home to varieties of flora and faunas.

Sita Devi Lake:
Another name for Sita Devi Lake is Devikulam Lake. During your visit to Munnar make sure you do visit The Sita Devi Lake. It is believed that the Lake is of religious importance and is also respected by the locals. The thermal water spring is the major attractions to the tourists.
Pallivasal waterfalls:

The Pallivasal waterfall is a small waterfall close to Devikulam but is very attractive. It is an ideal spot for picnicking. Enjoy the scenic beauty and peace environment around.

Thoovanam Falls:
The falls is not easily accessible but tourists can enjoy the sight of the falls easily from Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary. The distinct view of the falls is breathtaking.

How to reach

By Airways:
The nearest airport is Kochi International Airport located at a distance of 111.9 kilometers and it takes about approximately 2 hours 50 minutes to reach Devikulam. There are several taxis available outside the airport which you can take on hire to desired destination, Devikulam.

By Railways:
There is no railway station in Devikulam so the nearest railway station is Kochi at a distance of approximately 150 kilometers and Kottayam at a distance of approximately 130 kilometers. There are several buses and taxis that can reach you to Devikulam on hire.
By Roadways:


Devikulam a nature’s paradise can be easily accessible from Kochi and Kottayam. The roadways are well linked with all the major cities of the state. Large numbers of luxurious buses runs daily from Kochi and Kottayam to Devikulam. Travel by roadways lets you to experience breathtaking sceneries and landscapes on the way.
