In the later years after its establishment, the temple suffered destruction from the hands of Tippu Sultan and Hyder Ali. The inner sanctum of the temple is decorated with mesmerizing carvings and the wood work at this place is taken from the scenes of the puranas. The chamber before the sanctum is filled with several artistic wood work. Within the temples, you will find other smaller shrines of Ganapati, Narasimha and Saasta. The north east part of the temple complex has a shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna, with its own set of mandapams and a flagstaff.
