Historical Monument Of Thiruvananthapuram, Kanakakunnu Palace

Built during a glorious era of Travancore king, Sree Moolam Tirunal thia, palace stands as an epitome that speaks the brilliant of legacy and chronicles of his time. Situated near Napier museum, Thiruvananthapuram which is a heart of Trivandrum city still preludes the history as it suppose to be.

History
Built under the guidelines of, Sree Moolam Tirunal thia this palace reflects the lavish and free lifestyle of Thirunal kings who had so much affection with music and arts. It is believed that the royal site of this palace was built to serve their guest beside that Swathi Thirunal who later ruled the land renovated the site and established beautiful tennis court where he played for a years.

Architecture
Built in Kerala façade style, architecture simply defines their wisdom regarding the construction work. An interior which is designed and decorated with chandeliers and wonderful furniture reveals the royal hegemony.

 Present Scenario
After the fruitful era of Thirunal kings, now it is maintained by state government and this palace has transformed itself as a cultural venue where All India Dance Festival organizes their program under the guidelines of department of tourism.

All India dance festival that comes into scene from October to March offers brilliant opportunity to culture to get more flourished and the vivid dance performances really inspires the tourism department where people comes in numbers and enjoys the performance. During this phase of program the classical Indian Dance gets into groove every day.

Beside that newly constructed Sooryakanthy auditorium in the Palace compound where exhibition, trade fairs and cultural program takes place beside that international food festival which last for a weak is another schedule where premises gets busy in conducting it.

The Nishagandhi open air auditorium is another venue within the reach of premises where they regularly conduct annual show and other cultural fest to add more number of tourists within its gulf and the glory of historical palace which act as a guardian stand and to see and witness the same people comes from miles of distance.
